Pohnert Performance Horses is a relationship between Jamie & Kirsten
Pohnert and Don & Sammie Jo Pohnert. Our goal is to breed our
horses to have disposition, cow sense, confirmation, speed, and
the ability to be competitive in the roping and barrel horse industry.
We don't raise a high quantity of horses because we try to put
the necessary time and quality into the horses we raise.
Our colts are born and raised until their 2-year-old spring at White Deer, where they are halter broken and handled regularly. As 2-year-olds, the colts are brought to Amarillo to be started under saddle. Various natural horsemanship methods are used in our program. Our colts learn the basics, including ground manners, leads, flex, and leg pressure. As 3-year-olds, they are sent outside to be ridden in various conditions, including wheat-pasture, feed yards, grass-cattle, sorting, dragging, and gathering. From that point, our horses tell us when they are ready for the arena.
We are currently standing WRANGLERS ROYAL MOON, a 1999 Palomino
Stud, with FIREWATER FLIT, AMERICAN SPEED by ROCKET WRANGLER,
EASY JET, ROYAL MOON THREE, GO MAN GO, STRAW FLIGHT, AND LEO breeding.
These horses are bred to have speed and plenty of cow sense. We
really like MOON's confirmation, disposition, manners, and the
fact that he produces color.
There are many nice horses raised and bred in our Texas Panhandle.
We have started advertising consignment horses on our site to
expose people to some of these horses. If you live here and are
